Next Edition

Like we opined in an earlier post on our Facebook page, we will not have the “bee” by November as in previous editions, but in the first quarter of next year (2018).

We are partnering the Young Educators Foundation- Nigeria (YEF) – an NGO that promotes literacy and education, and franchise holders of the Scripps Spelling Bee – to bring to you Season 5 of The Spelling Bee-Nigeria Tournament.

The competition is designed for children between ages 6-13; to inculcate the basic imperatives of effective communication; ultimately impacting improved spelling skills, development of poise, increase students vocabulary, pronunciation and accurate word usage.

The 1st of 3 Prizes at the national level is an all-expense paid trip to the 91st Scripps National Spelling Bee Finals in Washington DC, USA as a guest, plus a scholarship Fund.

Registration is ongoing and will last till resumption of the next academic term by September, 2017.

STATE FINALS (January – February, 2018):
Top 3 Spellers from each participating school will make it to the State finals. All such students will undergo a vocabulary and spelling test.

Top 5 Spellers from the State Finals will be accompanied by selected Chaperones/local organizers to the 4-day camp of the National Finals. (March 26 – 30, 2018).

Exact competition dates will be communicated to registered schools in due course.
